What to Expect During Your Pet’s Stay
At Mitchell Mill Animal Hospital, we provide boarding for dogs, cats, and small animals in a clean, supervised environment where pets are treated with love and care. Our experienced staff and veterinarians monitor all boarders daily to ensure their comfort and health.
We encourage pet parents to bring familiar items like blankets, toys, or their pet’s food to help ease the transition. However, we kindly ask that all food and medications follow the guidelines below to maintain safety and organization.
Vaccination Requirements
To protect the health of all boarding pets, we require that your pet be up to date on vaccinations and routine testing before their stay. Proof of vaccinations and testing must be provided at check-in. If records are not on file or available upon admission, necessary vaccines, testing, or treatments will be administered and charged accordingly.
Dogs Must Have:
- Rabies (1 or 3-year)
- Bordetella (within 6 months)
- Distemper combo (within 1 year)
- Heartworm test (within 12 months)
- Fecal exam and/or deworming (within 6 months)
Additional Notes:
- Dogs will be checked for fleas and ticks upon arrival.
- A flea bath and Capstar treatment will be administered if fleas are found.
Cats Must Have:
- Rabies (1 or 3-year)
- Feline combo vaccine (Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia-Chlamydia Psittaci, including Feline Leukemia) within 1 year
- Fecal exam within 6 months
Check-In & Check-Out Guidelines
To ensure the best experience for all boarders, please follow the times below for drop-off and pick-up:
- Check-in: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Standard Pick-up: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Pick-up after bath or daycare: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
We charge by the night, so there’s no additional fee for early drop-off. However, pets must be picked up on time to avoid being charged for an additional day. Please allow time during drop-off for paperwork and to help your pet settle in.
Personal Items & Food Instructions
To keep our kennel space organized and clean, we kindly ask that you:
- Limit the number of personal items brought (blankets, toys, etc.).
- Label all belongings with your pet’s name.
- Pre-portion each meal into labeled Ziploc bags or small containers.
- Do not bring large bags or bulk food containers.
Medications and supplements must be in their original labeled containers with clear dosage instructions from your veterinarian.
